This is team Obnots' twentieth film! For this one, we drew 'film noir' as the genre, had to use a coffee cup as the prop, Roman or Roma Turcott, Executive Director as the character, and “I can’t remember where or when” as the required line. We made it to the Best Of Boston screening and were nominated for Best Use of Genre, Best Use of Character, and Best Cinematography. This is version 1.5 with lots of small fixes and adjustments made.

Cast & Crew: B. Zeb Polly, Bahar Baharloo, Ben Guaraldi, Dan Strange, Inky Stainsworth, J.M. Moss, Jaden Andrea, Jeff Matson, Jen Buckingham, Joed Polly, Leslie Diamond, Nick ‘Fig’ Figueiredo, and Vinyl Blight.

2020

Obnots' 19th movie, and third in 2020! For our required genre we drew Sci-fi or Food Film. For our required elements, we had to use a balloon for the prop, 'Piper or Prescott, plastic surgeon' for the character, and the line "He'll be right back." Le Carnage made it to the Boston Best of Screening where it was nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Use of Line, Best Costumes, Safe Sets Award (a Covid-19 safety award), and Best Film! We only won Best Use of Line, but it was exciting to be nominated for the other things. This is version 2 with fixes here and there, more apocalyptic VFX added, and about 20 seconds of extra footage added.

Cast & Crew: B. Zeb Polly, Ben Guaraldi, Dan Strange, Greg Lohman, J.M. Moss, Jeff Matson, Jen Buckingham, Joed Polly, L.A. Sweet, Leslie Diamond, and Nick ‘Fig’ Figueiredo.

2020

This is the second movie Obnots made during pandemic times (and our eighteenth movie as a team), this round for the 48 Hour Film Project's Global Film Competition. We got detective/cop as our genre, and the required elements were 'a lightbulb' as the prop, Roger/Rhonda Mulkey (judge) as the character, and the line of dialogue "What's going on?" We competed with 11 other teams in Boston. We were "neck and neck" with another team to take the Boston title, but ended up as Runner-Up. We won the following awards; Best Use of Prop, Best Use of Genre, Best Lighting, Best Set Decoration, and “Dou-bulb Indemnity" Award for Best Dialogue. This is version 2 with a deleted scene added back in and a few other fixes. For behind-the-scenes antics, make sure to watch the outtakes video.

Cast & Crew: B. Zeb Polly, Ben Guaraldi, Dabu, Eve Pogoda, J.M. Moss, Jen Buckingham, Joed Polly, Leslie Diamond, Nick ‘Fig’ Figueiredo, and Ray Carre.

2020

Due to pandemic reasons, there was a special 'Stuck at Home 48 Hour Film Project' challenge that team Obnots decided to give a whirl. The required genre was 'fantasy', the character 'Priscilla, a doctor' (we had to use one of our grandparents' names + occupation), and the prop was a kitchen utensil. In addition to those, we also had to utilize the theme of 'connecting' and had a required action, which was 'singing, fixing, or jumping'. If that wasn't tricky enough, the Stuck at Home challenge required us to film in our houses and nowhere else (exterior shots okay). We ended up putting everyone to work, and recording at four houses in MA, one in NH, one in NY, one in NM, and one in CA. It may have been "Stuck at Home 48" but it took about 75 hours to get it finished (editing this puzzle took a while). This ended up being the first of three movies that Obnots made in 2020. This is version 2, with a lots of little fixes and about 13 seconds of stuff added back in. Check out the outtakes video for deleted scenes, extra nonsense, and even an alternate ending!

2019

Team Obnots got together once again and stormed our brains hard until we came up our sixteenth movie, Fertility. We had to use either 'drama' or 'slapstick' as our genre, and to our surprise, we went with drama. We also had to use an egg as the prop, the line of dialogue "You don't have a clue, do you?", and the character 'George or Georgette Diffely, Artist'. Fertility tells the story of a struggling couple willing to try whatever it takes to get pregnant, and... well... you'll just have to wait and see... This is version 2, with a few minor fixes here and there. Fertility won the Audience Award for its screening group and went on to the Boston 48HFP Best Of screening. Check out the outtakes video for many laughs!

Against several odds, Team Obnots' made their *fifteenth* 48 Hour Film Project movie! We got 'road movie' as our genre, and had to use a flower as the prop, the line of dialogue "Let me think", and the character 'Thud or Thelma Taylor, person of action'. Follow the reluctant meanders of a van-dweller who is forced to hit the road and navigate the somewhat arbitrary 'Code of the Road' that inexplicably comes with owning her green VW bus. This is version 2, with various editing fixes, some deleted scene chunks and voice overs added back in, and other adjustments. Code of the Road won the Audience Award for its screening group (two teams tied). See some behind-the-scenes stuff and deleted/alternate takes in the Code of the Road Outtakes video.

We also had to use a bracelet as the prop, the line of dialogue “I couldn’t have said it better myself“, and the character 'Lauren or Lawrence Soto, Mentor'. Hop aboard for a journey through the serious and the absurd. This is version 2, with a few minor adjustments. This film screened at the 48HFP Best Of Boston screening and we won 'Best Cinematography' and were also nominated for: Best Actor (Raif), Best Costumes, Best Use of Dialogue, Best Use of Genre, and Best Script.
